Welcome to The Greater Pasadena Community Development Corporation (hereafter GPCDC) Planned Giving webpage.  Here you can find useful information that can benefit you and your family as well as have a meaningful impact on the Organization and its’ recipients.

   
 

GPCDC embraces that giving back to the community is a time-honored tradition. The reasons people make gifts or establish funds with the GPCDC for a number of reasons. Many do so because they can support the positive growth of community over the long term, even after they have passed away.

   
 

Gift planning is the process of you selecting the best methods and assets for making a gift, such as cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, life insurance, trusts, and bequests.  A planned gift can enable you to assist the GPCDC in its long term education, job training and entrepreneur training, mentorship programs, etc.

   
 

The GPCDC welcomes gifts from corporations, foundation, and individual well-wishers. A sponsorship to the GPCDC is full tax deductible as provided by law.

Ways to Sponsor

 

1. Unrestricted gifts are among the most valuable to the GPCDC, because they allow the organization to allocate funds wherever the need is greatest, and to take advantage of unique opportunities as they arise. Your unrestricted contribution may be used to support costs associated with financial aid, scholarships, after school training, job training, and much more.

   
 

2. Directed gifts allow you to sponsor your gift to a program of your choice.  When you make a directed gift to GPCDC, you are donating in a area that is important to you while helping others.

   
 
  • A+ Tutoring Program Pregnancy Prevention Program
  • Entrepreneur Business Program
  • Young Men's Mentorship Program
  • Young Women's Mentorship Program
  • Scholarship Program
   
 

3. Matching-Gift Programs is a convenient way to sponsor the GPCDC is to utilize the matching-gift program.  Through your employer, you may be able to contribute to charitable organization and they may match with a portion or 100% of your contribution.  Simple, contact your personnel department, ask for matching gifts form, complete it by providing the GPCDC name and Tax-ID number and they will do the rest.

   
 

4. Outright Gifts IS when you make an outright gift to the GPCDC, your contribution can be put to work immediately — either providing funding for current programs or creating a reliable source of future income by expanding the organizations endowment. An outright gift may be composed of almost any asset of value such as:

b. Gifts of appreciated paper assets also provide you a favorable tax advantages when transferred to the GPCDC before they are sold.  Gifts of such property provide a double benefit—a charitable deduction, in most cases, for the full fair-market value of the property—plus avoidance of any potential capital-gain tax.  Contact the Greater Pasadena Community Development Corporation Treasurer’s Office for information about giving these types of securities at:

  5. Gifts of real estate such as investment property, primary and secondary homes and vacant lots are an excellent source of tax and other benefits.  Check with your legal advisor because you can receive all or a portion of the property and still maintain principle holder for the rest for other purposes.
 
  6. Gifts of personal property Gifts of personal property are an excellent way to support the the GPCDC while reaping substantial tax benefits.  The the GPCDC accepts gifts of real estate, art, antiques, collectibles, and more. 7. Gift Pledges
The Greater Pasadena Community Development Corporation welcomes your gift through a pledge — a formal statement of intention to make a gift to the organization. With a pledge, you may complete your gift by making regular payments over time, allowing you to give more generously than you originally may have considered. What is more, each payment on your pledge is eligible for an income-tax charitable deduction.

   
 

If you are 70½ or older, recently extended legislation benefits you! Under the charitable IRA legislation, you can transfer lifetime gifts using funds from your individual retirement account (IRA) without undesirable tax effects.  Be sure to contact your tax professional and your IRA administrator if you are considering a gift under this law.

   
 

8. Bequest
One of the most common forms of planned giving is simply to include the GPCDC in your will. If you do, please tell us. We would much prefer to thank you for the bequest in person, rather than to your executor. We'll keep the information you share with us confidential.

   
 

9. Charitable Lead Trust

  You can support The Greater Pasadena Community Development Corporation now, and leave your heirs with an inheritance that has significant tax savings if done through a trust.  This option also allows for a family’s business interests to remain in place.
 
 

10. Charitable Remainder Trusts
A charitable remainder trust lets you avoid taxes on capital gains on the sale of appreciated securities or real estate, and reduce potential estate taxes.

   
 

The legal name to be used when making gifts to The Greater Pasadena Community Development Corporation via wills, trusts, and other gift-transfer documents is:
